ABOUT IAN
When it comes to film and theatre, the ever-quirky Ian Dixon has a finger in every pie – cinema, commercial television, stage, directing, script-writing and more. With more than 25 years of experience, his films have been featured in various international film festivals - Wee Jimmy (2000) netted the director’s commendation at the San Francisco International Film Festival, while Cut (2008) clinched Gold at the Australian Cinematographers Society Awards.
In addition to his acting and directing credits, Ian is an accomplished writer, speaker and professor. The former actor studied drama, cinema studies and English literature at the University of Adelaide and Flinders University, as well as filmmaking at the University of Melbourne, Victorian College of the Arts, where he completed his PhD in 2011. He has also published internationally, with two novels under his belt.

He has since brought his myriad research interests in celebrity studies, fan studies, film theory and others to Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University. As Associate Professor, he lectures in Screenwriting, and Acting and Directing for Film and Television.

Alongside his hectic work schedule, the family-oriented director loves spend his free time at the gym, swimming, biking and relaxing with his daughter. He also shares his love for horror movies with his wife, a fellow filmmaker.
